KUMIHIMO TECH CAMP

Kumihimo Tech Camp is a collaborative project by Murata Manufacturing, launched in 2022 and now running in Japan, Bulgaria, and Singapore, to explore new applications for its hardware alongside ambitious deep-tech founders.

Powered by Endeavor, the Bulgarian edition is now in its third year – connecting Japan’s top-tier hardware and engineering expertise with Bulgaria’s emerging innovators. Selected companies gain access to Murata’s exclusive components and technical guidance from Murata’s engineers, alongside business mentorship from Endeavor, as they develop impactful, globally relevant technologies.

Kumihimo Tech Camp focuses on hardware companies developing solutions in robotics and automation, environmental technology, and healthtech – tackling some of society’s most pressing problems. By combining Murata’s world-class hardware technology with the creativity and ambition of Bulgaria’s innovators, it generates lasting value for both business and society.

Timeline

Application Period

14 September – 31 October 

Companies will have over a month to select a component and submit their innovative use for consideration.

 

Selection & Onboarding Phase 

November – December

Companies will be notified of their selection by the end of November, following a two-stage evaluation process conducted by Murata’s leadership.

Selected companies are then onboarded in December, where they define their challenge and select their components.

Development Phase

Janyary 2027 – May 2027

Over five months, participants will have access to technical mentorship from Murata’s engineers and business guidance from Endeavor’s network.

Demo Day

June 2027 – Sofia, Bulgaria 

All participants will present their groundbreaking ideas in front of Murata Executives at Demo Day and 3 companies will be selected as winners. 

Award Ceremony 

TBA – Kyoto, Japan 

The three winning companies travel to Murata’s HQ in Kyoto, Japan, for a three-day tour of technical sessions, cultural experiences, and a prestigious Award Ceremony – all expenses covered.
