Meet the 2024 Dare2Scale Cohort: Several Clouds
19 founders from 9 companies are joining the 6th edition of Dare2Scale.
Meet Several Clouds, who provide Cloud and DevOps professional services. They are also heavily engaged with the cloud community in Bulgaria, people within the team teach for FMI – Sofia University, Telerik Academy, help local community groups and organize the biggest cloud conference in Bulgaria – AWS Community Day Bulgaria.
What has been your company’s biggest achievement or milestone to date, and what impact has it had on your business?
We feel our work with the community in Bulgaria is a great achievement. Teaching already talented people in FMI – University of Sofia and Telerik Academy – about Cloud and DevOps and how to optimize software delivery and operation to deliver value faster to their businesses, how to optimize the time to market and achieve better uptime with lower operational cost are things that we feel proud of. In 2023, we organized AWS Community Day Bulgaria conference, meeting people with the latest trends, sharing experiences and networking, the event became the biggest cloud conference in Bulgaria. This year, we do the same, bringing some of the industry leaders together to share with the community in Bulgaria.
All of that does not really have a direct, short-term impact on the business, but we believe in the long-term benefits of helping the ecosystem produce better software.
What’s an unexpected or fun fact about your company or team that most people wouldn’t know?
Something unexpected may be that even though we are still a relatively small company, we have well-structured processes, not heavy processes, but well-structured. What guides us is that we believe that “A bad system will beat a good person every time” and we invest in improving the system and the work environment. Another thing is we believe that everybody is a leader.
What’s a piece of advice you wish you had received when you were just starting out? How do you pass this wisdom on?
There wasn’t really just one single thing that we wish we had known back when Several Clouds started. We tried to gather as much information as possible on multiple topics – legal, finance, operations, sales, marketing, people, etc. by meeting with other business owners/founders in the domain and that prepared us as much as we could be. Afterwards, it was, and still is, continuous learning and adapting.
